i sang in the hostel last night. it felt really good to sing again. people were blessed. God, you amaze me everytime you sing through me. thank you.
the occasion for singing in the hostel? we had our very first 'eating and meeting'. it's a free dinner for the guests and we just hang out with them and get to know them through conversation and whatnot. it was a nice relaxed evening. i sat a table with 2 korean girls, one finnish girl, one french girl, one woman from california, and 1 girl and 1 guy from south africa (who actually knew one of the previous staff members i worked with back in the day of october!). i talked the longest with the south africans. we spoke of many things...at one point the girl asked me if i was married (cuz i wear a wedding band type ring on my left hand). i answered no (to the folks at home: worried for a second? nope. i didn't get married. hahaha). then i explained what the ring symbolizes in my life: my purity commitment to God and to my future husband. so i was blunt as well, never been kissed, not planning on it til my wedding day, etc. the girl seemed a little pensive. i wonder. and the guy just simply listened. but then made a funny comment that made us all laugh...wish i could remember it now, cuz it really was funny!
once again i had another confirmation concerning my love for children. (i do wonder what God has in store for me and for my love for children!) yesterday, a family checked in. 2 adorable swiss girls (who speak german, french and a lil bit o' english) made my acquaintance...and we became fast friends. i had various interactions with them during my morning reception shift. they came to me with a 100 euro bill, wanting it changed! wow. then, one needed a little help with the phone...i got her a chair to kneel on so she could see better. :) (the girls are 11 and 12...which i'm beginning to realize is an age i really really adore!--thank you beritan and garrick!) these girls are so cute and independent and have such sweet faces! they came by many times and just took photos of me...even some video--i did a little dance in a circle for them at reception...they giggled at that. quite leuk. after lunch i taught them how to play the game 'sets', which beritan taught me oh so long ago in jan/feb. (oh my everything how time flies). oh yes, their names are nastasia and noemia. beautiful. noemia bought a coke and brought a glass over to where we were playing the game...she poured some in the glass and then handed it to me. so sweet. i love the generosity of children. when we finished the game, noemia spoke in german. someone else translated "she wants you to teach her some english." wow. what an honor! i'll try my best...! when they were heading to bed i hugged each girl and then the rest of the people that they are with just kind-of lined up with arms opened wide....so i hugged 3 adults as well. that was funny. one of my co-workers, lindsay, stated that it was kind-of 'van trapp family like'. haha. i can't wait to spend some time with the girls tomorrow!
my dreamy cloud on wheels of a bicycle is fixed! it kind-of had a hernia in it's back tire. but it's all good now. it was great great great to cycle again...i've had to walk to shifts for 2 1/2 weeks total. not fun, when you like to get places fast and when you're used to cycling fast as well. don't worry everyone, i still am a fast walker...but walking compared to cycling? it's great to be cycling again. :)
well, i've been up far too late now...the sun is coming up...and i definitely need some sleep!
